The Shalom story began back in 2006 while Sammy Samuels, founder of the company, was studying at Yeshiva University in New York. Even when Myanmar was a pariah state, Moses Samuels, Sammy’s father, had long helped tourists interested in visiting the country, answering their queries regarding accommodations, flights, and restaurants.
Many grateful recipients of his knowledge and his assistance have urged him to open a travel agency so that he might more formally help people experience a beautiful and diverse country.
Father and son eventually turned it into a business in 2006. From these modest roots, they quickly set about creating Myanmar’s most reliable tour agency with innovative and exciting tours, opening the country up to curious, dynamic travelers.
Since the country opened its doors after decades of isolation through political reform in 2011, Myanmar Shalom has started to grow; two office staff and the small office back in 2006 and now have a full-time staff of over 25, over 40 part-time tour guides and staff at a 3,500-square-foot office in Yangon.
To meet growing demand, further branch offices were established in Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake.
Continuing this momentum as one of the leading boutique travel company, their focus on tailor-made travel in Myanmar attracted more international client base. Utilizing this stable foundation, Myanmar Shalom remains firmly committed to their roots, providing personalized services while utilizing extensive local knowledge and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Despite their growth, Sammy’s vision still remains. Personal is how we began, and that’s how we continue to be.
Myanmar Shalom works with clients, tour companies and tour leaders all over the world to create insightful itineraries for travelers, carefully crafted to the needs and interests of each individual and group.
